Organizing for America: Obama's Brownshirts Get $75M Annual Budget

I Want You!...to hassle people that don't support my agenda

With unemployment on the rise, it appears The Obama has a solution to allow legions of young people to pay the bills for their tofu diets, yoga lessons and whatnot. He has enlisted an army of community organizers, pamphleteers, and annoying new media people to "push his agenda", despite the fact that America may not even survive until the 2012 campaign season. Ben Smith of Politco has the scoop:
In a video message to supporters, Obama gives his campaign organization a name -- "Organizing for America" -- and a mission: running a permanent campaign for his legislative and governing agenda.

It's a potentially hugely, uniquely powerful tool, enhancing the muscle of the official who is already the most powerful man in America.
Organizing for America sounds a lot like the standard political apparatus in this country to humiliate the opposition, silence critics in the media, and usher forth a new era of cornball propaganda, but do we have to pay for it? LA Times reports that this boondoggle has a $75M budget of taxpayer money, which is pretty generous since I thought the sheer awesomeness of Obama's "Change" message was enough to transcend mere monetary transactions. Better take those "un-revolutionary" bumper stickers off your car, unless you want a government-funded brick through your windshield.

Here's a tip to Obama's Merry
Crew: learn to respect the First Amendment or lots of folks will bring you quickly up to speed on the Second Amendment.

Sounds more like a tax payer funded PAC for Obama.

I really, really, REALLY hate using Nazi Germany parallels when talking about Obama's policies, but....

i call bullshit, LT.

you KNOW that the comparison is way off.

obama is encouraging a level of personaly responsibility that every conservative has squaked about for decades. so now that a democratic president is calling upon his supporters to remin involved and take ownership of their part in this administration, you all want to shat all over the notion? holy fucking hypocrisy.

or is it ONLY about personal financial responsibility for you all?

puh-lease.

Cathcatz,

Perhaps Brownshirts is a bit erroneous, it may be more like what middle-class citizens during Mao's cultural revolution had to endure. I look forward to having to stand in a town square with a sign around my neck while the "oppressed" Obamanots throw dead chickens and rotten food at me because I dared not acknowledge the messiah. haha

cathcatz - what i notice about "personal responsibility" is that the people screaming the loudest about it are libturds - conservatives i know are personally responsible at most if not all times - social programs will be what kills all our spirits when the time comes.

read "anthem" by ayn rand. not that farfetched if you ask me.

nanc, thanks, but i've read my share of ayn rand, and i don't fall into that way of thinking.

and if you maintain that it's the "libturds" who are screaming loudest about it, then why does this notion of responsibility seem to just be a part of obama's plan for the country to me, but rather, this vast threat to the right and their way of life.

you'd think that if we are such a bunch of welfare sucking slackers, you all might want our "dear leader" to encourage us to wean from the gov't teet.

cathatz, how the hell can you say that "obama is encouraging a level of personaly responsibility" when he's just proposed the LARGEST ever "bailout" for IRRESPONSIBLE behavior? When people and businesses aren't allowed to fail for their stupidity and greediness, there is no such thing as accountability. I thought Bush was bad pushing HIS policies but they dwarf what Obama is proposing. THAT, my friend, is hypocrisy (I don't use profanity, sorry)!!

Read Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism." The Nazi Brown Shirt or the Italian Facist Black Shirt is an appropos analogy.

LT, in really isn't like Mao or the SA Brownshirts of the German 3rd....

It's like Pol Pot and those Kehmr Rouge dudes. The round up of free-market types, professionals, those that wear glasses and anybody that doesn't meet the critera established by the "Organizing of America" committee.
